*$250 pricing for initial evaluations, $200 for all follow-ups
The Esports Health and Performance Institute provider network can help you find an esports-certified mental performance coach in your area!
In this initial meeting I learn more about you, where you want to go, and brainstorm different paths to get there.
After making your choice to embark in your training, we meet for an initial assessment where I gain a better understanding of your current beliefs, habits, and mindset to cater my interventions and tools especially to meet your needs. In this meeting we define your win condition and strategize how to reach your goals.
During our consistently weekly meeting I play support as we will review your progress on your goals, process any roadblocks that may have gotten in your way, and provide you with tools to aid in your growth.
I follow up with you to make sure you are making progress and to answer any questions associated with your continued development. The follow-up duration varies based on how much you want to accomplish. We want lasting results!
At the end of our sessions together we assess our journey together, review the skills you have gained, and devise a plan for your continued growth. We may also reassess our work together and discuss how I may continue to support you in the future.
What’s Good Gamers,
Well-regulated gamers are high performing gamers. Esports is a very mentally demanding activity that requires focus, cognitive flexibility, and creativity to match the ever changing needs of each game. Let’s shift our definition of success from individual wins and losses to a more perspective of building consistent habits and systems to increase your ability to perform in every situation. To prepare you on your journey, let’s set some basic expectations and dissolve some misconceptions you might have about your sensei and the process:
Only crazy people with problems talk to an esport psychologist.
Since when is it crazy to better yourself and gain skills you need to live the life you want to live? The only crazy thing is that more people do not choose to actively improve their lives and themselves.
Talking about my problems doesn’t fix them.
True, the simple act of talking about problems does not fix them. What fixes problems is the willingness to observe what is happening, understanding why it is happening, and choosing–and knowing how!–to do things differently. It can be challenging to do this on your own and often it can be helpful to have a trained, objective clinician to see situations from a different perspective
These are just the tip of the iceberg of the entertaining comments I’ve heard either made about the coaching process. As an esport psychologist, I partner with my clients to help them to meet their own needs. I focus my work on the three P’s: 1) Prevention, 2) Process, and 3) Performance. I work to meet my clients where they are and provide different tools and interventions to help them progress on their journey.
MS, RD
The initial consultation is free! Once you choose to invest in yourself and the process of improvement I conduct an initial assessment is $250 and each session $200. As a client of mine you will have direct access to me, my services, and support.
Our initial consultation will last around 30 mins so I am able to gain an general overview of what you would like to work on, what areas you would like to improve on, and answer any questions you may have. After you make the commitment to invest in yourself and your improvement, we move onto a more in-depth initial assessment that lasts about 1.5 hours. During the initial assessment, I work to gain a better understanding of you, identify your thought process in gaming, and review your goals of coaching. In each of our subsequent meetings, I review your progress towards your goals, process roadblocks that get in your way, and provide you with structure and support in optimizing your thought processes. Typically after 10 sessions we will review your progress, discuss our work together, and determine the best options to continue your growth.
Common areas that I work with players and coaches to address fall under four broad categories:1) Cognitive Regulation, 2) Emotional Regulation, 3) Behavior Regulation, and 4) Environmental Regulation. In other words, I help players and coaches to control their thoughts, emotions, behavior, and environment to allow them to be present, flexible, and perform in ever changing situations in esports. Typical areas I have addressed include reducing tilt, increasing flow state, and creating solid, learning focused training routines.
Like most doctors, people often come to psychologists when their challenges have gotten too big for them to handle alone. Although psychologists are here to meet your needs and challenges, we are every bit as effective in prevention and skill building. I want to help you be prepared to rise to the challenges you encounter instead of falling into bad habits.
True, I may not have the hours, rank, or accolades that my players or coaches have in their respected titles. Achieving that high status requires dedication to their game, years of experience, and hours spent grinding to improve. Lucky for my clients, I invested my time in grinding psychology, gaining experience of many different challenges that arise in esports, and dedicated my training to improving the performance of players, coaches, and organizations. I may not always have the skills to compete with you in your in game but I am confident I have the skills to get you to where you want to go.
Everyone's favorite question! The answer is "it depends". Each person has their own process and moves at their own pace. I do not try to rush, push, or force my clients through their process and instead move at a pace that matches my clients. Typically I work with my clients for a total of 10, 1 hour sessions after which we review their progress and decide on next steps.
This thought would be akin to saying I graduated high school or college so I know everything, right? We know how that one goes. The better question is are we ever done growing, done improving, or done developing? After our sessions together you should have a better understanding of yourself and your behaviors, as well as have the skills you need to address new situations as you encounter them. However, we're all human and sometimes we slip back into bad habits, outgrow our old systems, or could benefit from tune up sessions. As with all skills, we need to constantly practice and be intentional in the use of different mental skills to keep them sharp.
