2. Set up a 1:1 evaluation session

After filling out the treatment request form, we will review the details of your case and upon approval (we can only take so many cases due to our schedule) we will send you a schedule request. Sign up for the time that works out best for you!

3. Start your journey to become pain-free

We meet during our scheduled time and you begin your journey towards better gaming health! During this initial evaluation I help you understand the following and more:

  1. What is the source of the pain?
  2. is the cause of the pain? (Endurance, schedule management, increased pain sensitivity, etc.)
  3. What is the exact roadmap of your return to play?
  4. What can I expect with the rehab process?

4. Follow-up with us to ensure you stick with your recovery program

We follow up with you to make sure you are making progress and answer any questions associated with your recovery program. This varies based on the on the severity of your injury and pain condition but 3-4 follow-up visits are typically expected.

Share your story and journey back to full HP with others in the community to help others understand how they can play more and hurt less. If you are okay with us sharing your case, we will write a case study article for our community to learn how they might be able to use any recommendation within your story to put themselves on a better path to health.

Hey guys, Matt here,

It’s been incredible to have been working in esports since 2015, and seeing all the growth and changes our community  has gone through when it comes to health and performance. It has truly been an adventure to work with players and teams at all levels of skill and competition. Along the way, if I have learned one thing since I began working in the gaming community it is that our community does not understand the pain many of us experience.

Many of us feel that once we have pain at our wrists, our gaming careers are coming to a close. The feared “CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME” is always the first thing that comes to mind. Doctors that we see (who do not specialize in orthopedic injuries) are quick to diagnose Carpal Tunnel syndrome because they do not understand the lifestyle and the pain pattern. So often, what we see is NOT Carpal Tunnel, but tendinopathies, muscle imbalances, and other conditions that we can easily treat, manage, and even prevent entirely.

This is why I started 1-HP and why I want to offer our knowledge and services to our community. I want to help everyone understand how simple it is both to prevent and treat their gaming injuries and return to doing what they love. I hope I can be the one to help you get back on track.

How much does it cost?

See the pricing listed above! It is $250 for an evaluation and $150 for follow-ups. As I mentioned above if you are not satisfied or feel that you did not benefit from the evaluation, you get your money back. For the follow-ups, most simple cases will only require 1-2 additional visits while more complex ones can take longer periods of time and may require upwards of 4-5 follow-ups.

How do I know it’s for me?

Do you have  pain? Do you have discomfort or aching that limits you from playing games? Are you afraid that your pain will affect your gaming career? Then this is for you. We have worked with professionals and casual gamers who have dealt with pain for as little as 2 weeks and as much as 4 years.

My doctor told me I should just wear a brace, stop playing as much and take medication, is this true?

Absolutely not. This is an OUTDATED approach with the management of musculoskeletal injuries. While resting and bracing do have a place in the rehabilitation of tendons/muscles – it has been shown that MOVEMENT AND SPECIFIC EXERCISE is more beneficial than rest. In fact, with less movement muscles and tendons can lose their healthy structure and strength. This can lead to further irritation once you are done with the prescribed “resting” period.

This is why it is important to treat the injury HOLISTICALLY – which is what ALL of the therapists at 1HP are capable of doing for you.

How long does it take?

Everyone’s favorite answer – it depends. This is because every case is different! What I can tell you is that you will likely notice a positive change in the first 2-3 weeks. We often feel stronger from consistent exercise during the first couple of weeks due to changes in our neuromuscular system. Most of the time we are looking to improve endurance and strength which typically takes six weeks.

Will I just be doing exercises?

Absolutely not, we approach injury management holistically. Movement and exercise is 100% the central part of our treatment as it as been shown with tendon related issues to be the most beneficial intervention however we take into account your lifestyle, posture, ergonomics, sleep position mobility, coordination among other things to ensure you are thoroughly treated.

When can I get started?

Right away! As of May 2017, we have an open schedule to provide this service to the gaming community. If you want to manage your pain thoroughly, we’d recommend you start as soon as possible – we won’t have an open schedule forever.

Does my location matter?

Nope. We are able to provide coaching to anyone around the world! 🙂
